HappinessFirst Learning – Cooking is known for it’s positive effect on mental health and function. It is a great opportunity to join in the fun, make new friends who have a similar interest and learn new skills. Participants will learn about healthy eating options and discover some new favourite meals. Our participants are involved in the entire cooking process, from preparing and cutting ingredients, to cooking the dish, and finally serving and eating what they have cooked. Cooking Skill classes are designed to teach and reinforce real world skills, which can be applied independently by the participant once they have completed the course. Meals to be cooked will be selected once you book the course. As a participant, you get to choose!! You can attend this class as many times as you wish as meals change weekly.
Who is the class designed for ?
This course is designed for those with little experience with cooking, aged 10 years old +. Please keep in mind, our courses are all tailor made based on the age and ability of individuals or groups booked.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course you will have learned how to:
- eat balanced and portioned meals
- prepare, create, store and serve meals
- be more confident in the kitchen
- make a few good meals
Duration
5 hours including breaks.
Venue
Classes can be held on school/office site or at an agreed location convenient for the participants. Even in your own home!
Materials & Tools
All materials and tools are provided. However, participants are also welcome to bring their own tools.
Class Size
Depending on the participants age and abilities. Can be offered 1:1.
Requirements
- Wear closed-in shoes
- If you have long hair, please tie it back
- please bring lunch/dinner and snacks
Cost
$217.40 inc. GST
This course is NDIS approved, so NDIS funding can be used.
